Challenge

We designed, produced, and directed the content for the immersive video room at the National Jeju Museum. Inspired by "Yeongjusipgyeong 瀛州十景," ten picturesque landscapes of Jeju selected and celebrated in poetry by Lee Han-woo (梅溪 李漢雨, 1818~1881) during the late Joseon period, we created live-action videos and projection mapping that blend Jeju's natural scenery with its tangible and intangible heritage. This effort was praised for recreating the magnificent landscapes of Jeju from 170 years ago.

22 projectors (Resolution: 13,000 x 1,900 px)

376 ㎡ experience space with four-sided immersion Careful consideration of content layout and sound design

- Location scouting and filming based on Yeongjusipgyeong

- Production plan for the lost locations among the ten views (VFX/CG)

- Creating immersive visual and auditory experiences for visitors

Process

We divided the renowned landscapes of Yeongjusipgyeong into four themes: 'A Day in Jeju’, 'The Four Seasons of Jeju', 'The Mystery of Jeju', and 'The Life of Jeju'. We filmed Jeju's beautiful scenery in live-action and used 3D modeling to create the visuals. For the vanished locations among the ten views, we reconstructed their appearances from 170 years ago using 3D modeling based on the filmed footage, sparking visitors' curiosity.

Frame Out

The projection mapping covered all four walls of the exhibition space with vivid imagery and music delivered an immersive and emotional experience as if visitors were actually in Yeongjusipgeyong. The project was praised for recreating Jeju's magnificent landscapes from 170 years ago. The project is also available on the National Jeju Museum's YouTube channel.
